Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council will host its final Hillsborough Farmers’ Market of the summer on Saturday 28th July with the very best local, seasonal and artisan food on offer.

The weekend market can be found on the idyllic setting of Dark Walk Lane at Hillsborough Fort. Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with producers from across Northern Ireland, learning about their produce and getting the opportunity to taste and purchase directly from the producer.

The 2018 summer markets have proven to be very popular and the July market promises an even greater variety of quality produce on offer, including speciality rare-breed meats and award-winning charcuterie, preserves, chutneys & pickles, Irish artisan cheeses, chocolates and fudge, as well as fresh bread, cakes, and artisan street food, all served against the tree-lined backdrop of Dark Walk Lane. Now in its third year, the Hillsborough Farmers’ Markets have proven to be a popular staple event in the Council area for friends and families to enjoy during the summer months.

Food producers from across the province will be trading, showcasing a range of unique and award-winning produce. The market will also include offerings that cater for special dietary needs, whether vegan, gluten or dairy free.

Producers at the July market include Mike’s Fancy Cheese, Corndale Charcuterie, Deli Muru, Castlescreen Farm, Ke Nako Biltong, Crumbs Vegan Bakery and new addition to this year’s markets, Bara Bakehouse, who produce a range of sourdough, rustic French and Irish breads. The ever-popular street food options will also be apparent at the market and can be enjoyed in the picnicking area with mouth-watering food from Burger Republic, Dickie D’s Grilled Cheese gourmet sandwich, a Buchanan’s all-day breakfast bap or how about a sweet or savoury crepe?

Whilst local food is very much the focus of the market, there is also a fabulous horticultural offering from Cottage Garden Plants, Foliage Works and Howell & Trowel. Other new faces proving popular this year in the non-food stalls, include Mrs Rganics skincare, In Klover artisan crafts, and natural doggie treats from Armstrong Twisted fish. All visitors will also have the pleasure of being entertained by busker- style music whilst browsing the market.

Hillsborough Farmers Market will trade from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 28th July 2018. For further information please visit www.visitlisburncastlereagh.com with frequent updates on Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council on Facebook.com/enjoylisburn, Twitter @VisitLisburn and Instagram @visitlisburncastlereagh.
