William Millen aka Will Power Will is taking to the streets of Northern Ireland all in aid of FASA. William has set himself the challenge of walking all 6 counties of the province in 15 days. Having lost a staggering 5 stone through Slimming World, William will be walking approximately 354 miles to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Charity and their new project, The Nightingale: A new Crisis Response Centre.

FASA is a local charity in NI who provides intervention and support for individuals, families and communities who are both directly or indirectly impacted by Suicide, Self-Harm, Substance Misuse or Mental Health Distress/Crisis.

The money raised from Will Power Will’s Walkathon will go towards a new initiative set up by the charity – The Nightingale: A new Crisis response Centre in Belfast; the first of its kind in Northern Ireland. The facility will provide people at risk of suicide and self-harm a place to go to and receive one to one help and support in their crucial hour of need in a non-medical setting. The aim will be to address the present gap in service provision and deliver an out of hours service 9pm to 9am. The tranquil venue will offer access to a quiet, comfortable space, hosting the person in distress to rest while also accommodating supportive family or friends.

Will Power Will comments “I lost a friend to suicide a few years back. It was such a shock to everyone. I only wish that something like the Nightingale would have been available at that time that could have helped my friend. The Nightingale will be such a valuable and life-saving service that I am delighted to support in order to help people in crisis and help to prevent other families having to go through what we went through. I hope that people will dig deep and give generously to help make this Crisis Centre a reality.”

William has been training for this challenge since February and has had fantastic support from councillors from all over Northern Ireland who will be greeting him as he enters each county. The Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast Christopher Stafford, will be supporting and accompanying William on his last day from Belfast City Hall to Bangor.

Deputy Lord May, Christopher Stafford says “I was delighted to be asked to support William. The Nightingale is vital service that is needed for our community. I strongly encourage everyone to support William as his begins his challenge for FASA and make a real difference. I look forward to walking with him as he comes back to Belfast on the final part of his journey. Good Luck Will Power Will!”
