The Institution of Civil Engineers’ (ICE) touring exhibition, Time is Running Out, is now being exhibited at W5, Belfast until November 2023.
The Time is Running Out exhibition is an educational experience ideal for families, young people and those wanting to learn more about engineering. The interactive exhibition focuses on the future of infrastructure and the role of civil engineers in helping society respond to the challenges of climate change and meet net zero targets by 2045 in Scotland, and 2050 across the remainder of the U.K.
Featuring original hand-drawn illustrations and animations, six children talk to TV presenter and engineer Rob Bell asking impactful questions around ending waste, the impact of transport, energy sources, value in water, smarter cities and living with flooding. These topics address the future of infrastructure and a wide range of global problems in the aim to inspire young people who are passionate about the environment to consider civil engineering as a career.
Jenny Green Regional Director ICE, said: “Welcoming such an impactful, exhibition that not only engages young people but adults alike, is important to ICE Northern Ireland. It will not only help to raise awareness but will also help to spark conversation about the global problems that impact the future of infrastructure”.
Judith Harvey, Group Head of Learning and Engagement at The Odyssey Trust also commented: “We are delighted to host the ICE Time is Running Out touring exhibition here at W5. Having the exhibition in-situ is a great opportunity for our visitors to engage and learn about engineering a net zero world”.
