Calling all Photographers!
The countdown to Mount Stewart’s annual Festival of Light is on, with the event opening to the public on Friday 31 October. This year the National Trust Festival of Light is set to the theme of ‘Music from the Movies’ and will see the mile long Lake Walk illuminated with hundreds of lights set to a magical soundtrack. It’s the perfect event for photographers, both professional and amateur.
To celebrate Festival of Light, the National Trust has launched a photography competition #MyFestivalOfLight in partnership with NITB, to capture the best light related photos from across Northern Ireland this autumn.
The competition is inviting people to take photos inspired by themes such as Nature & Light, People & Light and Special Places, and post their photos on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using #MyFestivalOfLight. Alternatively, they can email entries to firstname.lastname@example.org
The grand prize is a Panasonic Lumix GX7 SLR Digital Camera, worth £900, for the best overall contribution to the competition, with the runner up receiving a night’s stay for two in the 5* Culloden Estate & Spa, County Down. Other prizes include shopping vouchers for Victoria Square and lunch at Mount Stewart. The competition runs from Thursday 23 October until Thursday 20 November.
Susan Roberts, Visitor Services Manager at Mount Stewart said: “Last year the event was understandably popular with photographers, so we are delighted to have put together this partnership with NITB and Panasonic to encourage entries from across Northern Ireland to celebrate light and landscape this autumn.”
Entries aren’t restricted to Festival of Light images and full details can be found at: www.discovernorthernireland.com/myfestivaloflight
