At a recent Wiltshire auction, a first-class dinner menu from the RMS Titanic fetched £84,000. The menu, dating back to 11 April 1912, featured items like oysters, beef, spring lamb, and mallard duck. The Titanic, tragically known for sinking after hitting an iceberg on 14 April 1912, resulted in over 1,500 fatalities.
Conducted by Henry Aldridge & Son in Devizes, Wiltshire, the auction highlighted this unique piece of history. Andrew Aldridge, the auctioneer, remarked on the menu’s significance as a rare artifact from the iconic ship. The menu, displaying the White Star Line flag, had indications of having been in water, suggesting its presence during the Titanic’s fateful journey.

In addition to the menu, the auction included other notable items such as a pocket watch belonging to Sinai Kantor, a second-class passenger, which sold for £97,000, and a tartan-patterned first-class deck blanket that went for £96,000. Henry Aldridge & Son are recognized for handling sales of Titanic memorabilia, including a fur coat from a first-class stewardess and a letter from passenger Oscar Holverson in previous auctions.
