PICTURED getting into the swing of things is performer, Aaron O’Hare who together with Tourism Northern Ireland, is encouraging everyone to experience an exciting and unusual golf inspired opera called LoveGolfOpera which will take place in Newcastle as part of the Irish Open Fringe Festival 2015.
The opera, which has been inspired by the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open hosted by the Rory Foundation, is completely free and will take place on May 30 at Castle Park.
The unmissable performance will explore the humour behind what happens when one of the world’s greatest sports mixes with a romantic love story. The opera is composed by Brian Irvine, the newly appointed Belfast Music Laureate, and written by award winning Northern Ireland playwright, Owen McCafferty.
The Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Councillor Naomi Bailie explained why visitors and locals should see LoveGolfOpera:
“This performance is set to be a really exciting, one off spectacle and is sure to entertain everyone with laugh out loud comedy set against the stunning back drop of the Mourne Mountains. Northern Ireland Opera has also announced that the music soundtrack recording will be performed by the RTÉ symphony soundtrack which is sure to be music to everyone’s ears.
“The Irish Open Fringe Festival has a really wonderful variety of things to see, do and experience so we would urge everyone to check the programme and head to County Down for an unforgettable time,” added Councillor Bailie.
