Team Europe have once again lifted golf’s most prestigious team trophy, claiming back-to-back Ryder Cup victories after a nail-biting final day at Bethpage Black.
The Americans mounted a strong comeback in the Sunday singles, but Europe stood firm to secure a 15–13 victory in the 45th Ryder Cup. The atmosphere was electric as both sides traded blows in a series of fiercely contested matches, but the visitors ultimately proved too resilient.
One of the pivotal moments came when Ireland’s Shane Lowry halved his match with Russell Henley, pushing Europe to the crucial 14-point mark that guaranteed they would at least retain the trophy, following their win in Italy two years earlier. Soon after, England’s Tyrrell Hatton tied with Collin Morikawa, nudging Europe over the finishing line at 14.5 points and confirming the victory outright.
The result adds to an already impressive record: Europe have now claimed 11 of the last 15 Ryder Cups, and remarkably, five of the last 10 hosted on American soil. The triumph at Bethpage Black further cements their dominance in modern Ryder Cup history, and will be remembered as one of the most thrilling away wins in the competition’s storied past.
