Bistro Este on the lower end of the Newtownards road was one of those true hidden gems.
We had lots of happy memories in there. It was the last dinner my wife and I had before she gave birth (not immediately before she gave birth!)
A husband and wife team gave it a real homely feel, and the service was perfect.
The food was top notch without being wanky… or expensive.
It’s charm was that it was in a place that you wouldn’t normally expect such amazing food. But it’s location probably started to go against it. Sited next door to the Alliance office in east Belfast, it soon became the inadvertent victim of Flag Protests.
