Review: The Kooks + Silences at Limelight, Belfast

The Kooks

Iconic, English, indie rock band, The Kooks and support group Silences amazed Belfast with a lively and fun gig on September 3rd, 2018 at Limelight.

After 3 years, The Kooks have come back with their new  album ‘Let’s Go Sunshine’ with tastes of retro funk, dream-pop, indie rock, epic glam, country punk and chamber balladry.

The new album consist of 13 distinctive tracks: ‘Intro’, ‘Kids’, ‘All the Time’, ‘Believe’, ‘Fractured and Dazed’, ‘Chicken Bone’, ‘Four Leaf Clover’, ‘Tesco Disco’, ‘Honey Bee’, ‘Initials for Gainsbourg’, ‘Pamela’, ‘Picture Frame’, ‘Swing Low’, ‘Weight of the World’ and ‘No Pressure’.

The Guitar pop heroes have now started touring to promote their new album, reminiscing with old time fans by adding some of their best past hits.

First up was our own local band from Portadown, Silences.

While the band are currently working hard on their debut album (which will be released early next year), they have been wowing Northern Ireland with the unique ways of adding their own wonders to covers of indie rock, indie pop and alternative pop hits such as ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’.

Belfast were thrilled to have such an inventive and humble local band to start the highly anticipated gig. Silences performance might have been short, but definitely one to remember for a long time. Relaxing yet stirring twists to well know hits performed by Silences, left the audience beaming.
