Social media users were this morning facing the internet equivalent of the apocalypse.
It appears as though there was a mass outage of Facebook, Instagram, Tinder, AIM and Hipchat.
People were unable to pry into one another’s lives without actually talking, post boring pictures made marginally interesting with filters or shallowly swipe left and right depending on their aesthetic preferences as a result.
The Lizard Squad, which yesterday claimed to have taken Malaysia Airlines website down, claimed responsibility for the outages, but that has not yet been verified.
But, Twitter and TSU was still up and running…
Facebook’s website said: ‘Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.’
The outage appeared to be shortlived with most sights being back online within an hour.
