The OnlyJustMedia Summit, the first social media conference of its kind in Northern Ireland is promising to help Northern Ireland’s bloggers raise their game – and their profile – and compete on an international level.
On Thursday 30 August, Belfast’s Titanic Hotel will play host to 300 attendees, and some of the world’s biggest social media stars.
The event is on a mission to inspire refreshingly meaningful engagement between brands and influencers and over 100 brands have signed up attend. Well-known names such as Estee Lauder, Wagamama, Miel et Moi, EatNakedNI, Pink Finch, Mango Bikes, Morrelli Ice Cream, and Oh! Donuts have also bagged themselves roles as official event partners.
The summit is the brain-child of 20-year-old event creator Lucy McMullan, who spotted a gap in Northern Ireland’s blogosphere and wasn’t prepared to wait around for someone else to fill it:
Lucy McMullan said: “We have a lot of great blogger events here in Northern Ireland, but we need to do more to encourage truly meaningful engagement between brands and influencers. Events like VidCon in the US help bloggers to create unique, valuable content that’s tailored to the brands they work with, and these genuine connections are what help brands and bloggers grow.”
“There are so many brilliant bloggers here in Northern Ireland, but a lot of them just aren’t achieving the same stratospheric success as their counterparts around the world, and what’s more, brands are losing sight of the value that social media can bring to their business.”
“I wanted to create an event that is going to really shake up the Northern Ireland blogging world and show bloggers and brands alike that mutual collaboration is the key to growth.”
“I’ve been blown away by the response from the blogger community so far, who want to create unique, value-rich content, as well as brands, which just goes to show: Northern Ireland is really ready for this.”
The event is so big some of social media’s most prolific players are jetting to Belfast just to be part of it, such as New Yorker Calvin Hamilton, social media analyst to Gary Vaynerchuk, the millionaire digital marketing expert behind US-based Vayner Media. The social media strategy service provider grossed $100 million in revenue in 2016 advising Fortune 500 companies such as General Electric, Mondelez and PepsiCo.
Joining him on that transatlantic flight will be Finn Thormier, a German-native ‘digital wizard’ who not only boasts a massive personal Instagram following but is also an expert in Instagram story paid advertising and the power of LinkedIn video. He’ll be sharing his wisdom with attendees on how to build a personal brand through the power of social media.
Finn said: “I truly believe that this event is going to be so valuable for brands and creators alike. The potential for networking, collaborating and learning is really huge and I’m very excited to be a part of it.”
