Braving the stormy weather, we walked round to Oliver’s Restaurant for a Tuesday #eatouttohelpout evening meal. We received a warm welcome which was greatly appreciated in such inclement weather and we were pleased to see that good social distancing measures were in place, with Perspex screens between the tables.
Our starters were the salt and chilli squid (without the chorizo as requested ) and the pea and mint risotto (with a crispy runny egg).
For main courses we chose seabass which was served with a fried courgette flower stuffed with ricotta, new potatoes, shaved fennel and saffron aioli, and a crispy skinned salmon which was accompanied by smoked paprika hummus, Persian rice, hazelnut dukkah and green beans. Both fish dishes were cooked to perfection.
We weren’t going to have dessert, but decided to “have a look”! And as we have the willpower of a gnat we simply couldn’t resist and plumped for the chocolate and cookie slider and the baked lemon tart Alaska with bitter chocolate ice-cream, which was a particular favourite.
So impressed were we with the quality ingredients, the excellent service and the great value for money that we rebooked to go back in a few weeks time!
