Review of Neill’s Hill Brasserie, Belfast

Great food, good service and a fine ambience- a charming restaurant!

Review by Lynne:

I am a regular visitor to Neill’s Hill and it has become a firm favourite with all the family.  No matter what the time of day or occasion, there is something to fit the bill.  I have visited for coffee, brunch, lunch and dinner and I have to say, I haven’t been disappointed yet.  The staff are friendly, the ambience is welcoming and the food is good.  What’s not to like?

The restaurant is conveniently located in Ballyhackamore, or Ballysnackamore as it is now affectionately called.  My mum lives nearby so it is perfect for family get togethers.

We visited recently for lunch and took a bit of time perusing the menu which offers plenty of choice.  As I was hungry, I was veering towards the Neill’s Hill burger but made a last minute with to Chicken Chimichurri as my curiosity got the better of me and I was intrigued to find out what it was.  To be on the safe side, I ordered some chunky chips as a side as I was really hungry.  This dish was delicious.  The Chicken was topped with a spicy pesto style sauce made from oregano, parsley, coriander, chilli and olive oil.  The combination gave the dish a real kick.  It was served with a spicy quinoa salad with peppers and chickpeas mixed through.  Delicious!

Mum opted for the chorizo and red pepper chicken.  This comes served with garlic mash or chips but as neither of us fancied garlic, she asked the waitress if it was ok to swap for sweet potato wedges.  Happily, this wasn’t a problem.  I had a little dip of a chip in the chorizo and red pepper sauce which was delicious with just a little bit of a kick.

Both our dishes were tasty and filling, leaving us no room for pudding.  We were pleased with our choices and will definitely be back!

Our bill:

Chicken Chimichurri – £8.00

Chorizo and Red Pepper Chicken -£9.50

Chunky chips – £3.25

Sparking water with lime – £2.50

Soda water with lime -£2.10

Total: £25.35
