Last Chance to take a Nearly True Tour – Portadown

Locals and visitors to Portadown are being urged to get their walking shoes on and book their place on the last of the town’s most unconventional tour yet.

The eccentric Nearly True Tours, which have been taking place every month as part of the Portadown 400 celebrations and are totally free, will depart for the last time on Saturday 27th July giving participants a hilarious account of Portadown’s ‘nearly true’ history.

Mayor of Craigavon, Mark Baxter said: “The Nearly True Tours have been a really fun addition to the Portadown 400 schedule of events for young and old. I would highly recommend them for great summer entertainment for all the family.”

The alternative tours are free to join and will start from Millennium Court at 11am and 2pm. The town centre excursions will be led by an actor who will guide guests through the town on foot as they learn lots of hilarious ‘facts’ about the town’s history.

Those wishing to join the tours can register at for free or by calling the Millennium Court Arts Centre on 028 3839 4415 or emailing

The quirky guided outings will take around an hour to complete and make an ideal day out for families, locals, visitors and old and young alike.

The event is totally free but advance booking is required. Participants are also advised to wear comfortable footwear and be prepared for changeable weather.

The Portadown 400 celebrations are being supported by a number of partner organisations including Portadown Chamber of Commerce, Translink, the Portadown Times, schools and members of the community who will work together to provide the festivities.
