Our Man in Belfast – Mayor Mairtin O’Muilleoir dropped into the city’s new Café Havana on the day they received their first consignment of Cuban Coffee, ‘Cubita en Grano’.
Café Havana is the first eatery in Belfast to offer the authentic taste of Cuban coffee and they will be providing a complimentary cup to all customers during this weekend’s Cuban Revolution Day celebrations.
Café Havana manager, Keri Sittlington said the Cuban coffee goes particularly well with the Cuban churros (donuts) served with chocolate and leche leche sauce, which are on the menu this weekend.
“It is absolutely gorgeous. It is very smooth, rich and has slight tobacco notes,” she added.
Co-owner Patrick Magee said: “The Mayor asked about the Cuban theme and was very complimentary about the décor. As he is interested in economic development, he was particularly interested in our staff and training.”
This weekend, Café Havana is declaring ‘Independence’ with three days of Fiesta to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the start of the Cuban Revolution.
The restaurant, which opened on July 1, is the first Cuban-inspired eatery in Belfast. It opens from8am to 6pm on Monday to Wednesday, 8am to 11pm from Thursday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sundays, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu includes a mixture of Cuban, Latin American and European favourites.
Café Havana is at 56-58 Berry Street behind CastleCourt Shopping Centre. For more information or bookings call the restaurant on 02890 310809.
