The halftime performance is almost as eagerly anticipated as the Super Bowl game itself, with the likes of Madonna, Beyonce and Bruce Springsteen gracing the stage in the past few years.
Famous guests and elaborate staging are the norm, and this year’s halftime show was no exception.
Katy Perry’s highly anticipated half-time show performance at last night’s Super Bowl XLIX did not disappoint. Over 12 minutes she wowed crowds with a giant tiger, Lenny Kravitz, backing dancers dressed as sharks and an amazing fireworks display. The US singer performed a medley of hits that also included a guest appearance from rapper Missy Elliott.
The chart-topping star took centre stage at University of Phoenix Stadium during halftime of the game where the New England Patriots narrowly beat the Seattle Seahawks 28-24.
Katy took to instagram earlier in the day to share that she marked the occasion by getting the numerals XLIX tattooed on her right hand. She captioned the photo “I thought it would be appropriate to draw blood tonight,”

Even though Katy put on an incredible performance, it was one of her backing dancers dressed as a shark that stole the show. Viewers accused the mystery dancer, know as ‘left shark’ of making up the dance moves as he went along as it looked like he had no idea what he was doing and within minutes ‘Left Shark’ had its own Twitter account.
