Father’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate all the great dads out there, but for Asda colleagues across Northern Ireland, including father and son Gerry and John Crilly who work alongside each other in the Westwood store – they have a reason to celebrate Father’s Day every day.
John isn’t the only Asda colleague in Northern Ireland who has the privilege of going to work every day with their Dad, the Larne, Antrim, Downpatrick and Coleraine stores also have fathers who work with their children – it’s a real family affair!
Son John, who works in the security department in the store, explains:
“I joined the Asda team about a year ago, after being inspired by my Dad, and I haven’t looked back. He is one of Asda Westwood’s longest serving colleagues – having been with the store for the past 22 years. He knows every nook and cranny of Asda Westwood, and loves his job. He will be 75 next year, and has no intention of slowing down! This Father’s Day is particularly special for us, as I’ve just found out I’m going to be a Dad myself – so it really will be one to remember! You could say we have a third generation of Asda colleagues on the way!”
Gerry, who works in the Bakery in Asda Westwood added:
“Father’s Day is a big occasion for us! I’m already a great grand-father and can’t believe John will be a Dad this year too! I love my job, and I’ve tried to instil in John that same desire of wanting to better yourself, and finding a passion for work – it’s fantastic to have a purpose every day, and a sense of fulfilment, and it’s even better to share that with my son. Although we are at other ends of the store, we always make time for each other and it’s great to have him working with me.”
Asda stores across Northern Ireland have a great range of Father’s Day gifts and product available instore now.
