Big-hearted colleagues at Asda Bangor have been praised for their actions after stepping in to help a customer with a medical issue.
Louise Ryan and Lynn Stevenson were in the store when a customer told them a shopper was unwell in the foyer.
Front end colleague Louise said: “Luckily, the woman’s husband was with her and was able to tell us she had Type 1 diabetes. I’m familiar with the symptoms as a family member has the condition, and when I saw she was shaky and dizzy we were able to get her onto a chair to get her steady and make sure she didn’t collapse
“My colleague Lynn, one of our first aiders, was fantastic, and while I took care of the practical things like clearing some space and getting her a sugary drink, Lynn was there to keep things calm. She’s great with people and was able to chat away to the customer and her husband, reassuring them until the lady felt well enough to leave the store.”
The couple were so impressed by Louise and Lynn’s support, they later called Asda’s central team in England to pass on their gratitude.
Louise said: “It was very kind of them to do that. As a store right in the centre of Bangor, there’s a real community feel so we’re all here to look out for one another and our customers. We were really happy to hear the lady was doing well.”
Ami Craig, Community Champion at Asda Bangor, added: “A huge well done to Louise and Lynn for responding to a difficult situation with such care, kindness and professionalism. We’re all very proud of you.”
