Back by popular demand – FASA is going to Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive and Dodge to raise vital funds for the charity. The 2nd FASA Dodgeball Tournament is happening at PEC, Queens Belfast on Saturday 7 February 2015.
18 teams from across the province will be taking to the court to battle it out for the FASA Cup. In partnership with the Northern Ireland Dodgeball Association (NIDBA), all teams are first time players coming together and raising sponsorship for the Charity’s new project The Nightingale: a new out of hours Crisis Support Centre in Belfast. Over the past 5 years one of the key needs our service users, families and other agencies have identified is a Place of Safety for those who are in crisis through the night and need an out of hours service.
The aim of the Nightingale will be to address the present gap in service provision and will deliver the service 9pm to 9am, with supporting day services at an accessible location in Belfast. The facility will provide a resource for people at risk of suicide and self-harm with a place to go and receive help and support in their crucial hour of need. The tranquil venue will offer access to a quiet, comfortable space, hosting the person in distress to rest while also accommodating supportive family or friends.
Lorna Watson, Fundraising and Events Coordinator for FASA commented: “The FASA Dodgeball Tournament is a fantastic event promoting fun and good mental health. Everyone can get involved and be in with a chance of winning the FASA Dodgeball Cup! We invite everyone to come along on the day to spectate and support the teams. We even have a team from Birmingham are coming over to participant.”
Gary O’Rourke, Chairman of the NIDBA comments “On behalf of the Northern Ireland Dodgeball Association (NIDBA), I am delighted that we are able to support FASA again in organising a Dodgeball Tournament to raise funds for the incredibly important work they do. As an Association we look forward to the 7th February 2015 and the opportunity that it presents to introduce people to this sport, while at the same time raising a lot of money for FASA.”
Everyone is welcome to come along on the day to support the players. The Tournament begins at 10am with the final planned for 2:30pm.
