Fashion lovers were treated to a sparkling showcase of new season style, as The Merchant Hotel’s Fabulous Fashion Teas returned for their 21st season this weekend.

On Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October the 5*star hotel’s Rita Duffy Suite provided a striking setting for four individual Fashion Teas, showcasing cutting edge autumn/winter collections from a hand-picked selection of Northern Ireland’s top boutiques and designers.

Harper at The Merchant Hotel; The Walk in Wardrobe, Banbridge; Blush Belfast and local designers, Grainne Maher and Shauna Fay wowed guests with their autumn/winter collections, alongside a series of fabulous champagne afternoon teas.

Models from Style Academy provided a round table fashion show, allowing guests to get up close and personal with the new season collections, whilst sipping Veuve Clicquot Champagne and enjoying melt in the mouth patisseries. Autumn/winter hair looks were created by Andrew Mulvenna with complementary on-trend make-up looks from Lancôme.  Guests also got the chance to shop the collections hot off the catwalk, with pop-up boutiques for each retailer housed in The Merchant Hotel for the entire weekend.

On Saturday 8th October, luxury shoe boutique, Harper at The Merchant Hotel opened the autumn/winter 2016 Fashion Teas series with a show that certainly put its best foot forward. Exclusive Northern Ireland stockists of Christian Louboutin, Charlotte Olympia and Rachel Zoe, Harper at The Merchant’s coveted red soled heels were a key feature in this opening show, with a mix of classic shapes and colours and fashion forward styles ensuring fashion lovers are well heeled for the autumn season.

At 1pm on Saturday 8th October, Banbridge ladieswear boutique, The Walk In Wardrobe showcased its latest collection, with stunning occasionwear, hats and accessories perfect for weddings, mothers of the bride and groom, and special events, with designs from established names such as Kevan Jon with international brands sourced from Italy, Spain, Croatia and beyond.

Closing the Saturday line-up, leading NI designers, Grainne Maher and Shauna Fay proved a formidable duo, with a show that wowed the sell-out crowd. Mixing Grainne’s iconic millinery pieces with striking designs and accessories from her Spires Mall boutique, VAULT by Grainne Maher created an eclectic series of looks, dominated by luxe leathers and punctuated with pops of colour, perfect for autumn/winter. Shauna Fays designs focus on celebrating the female form in all its curvy glory and an exquisite collection of beautiful handcrafted evening gowns made a real statement on the runway.

Closing The Merchant’s autumn/winter Fashion Teas on Sunday 9th October, chic boutique, Blush Belfast showcased a collection of its favourite designers, from tried and trusted names including Irresistible and Diva, to the classic style of John Charles and Kalayci London. Ireland’s largest stockist of the fabulous Kevan Jon range, Blush presented the hottest selling designs from his latest collection. And, with formal season just around the corner, guests were treated to array of carefully chosen formalwear from the wonderful Debbie Carroll and Forever Unique.

Funds raised from a luxury ballot at the events will be donated to The Merchant’s charity partner, Action Cancer.

The Merchant’s Fashion Teas will return once again to showcase spring/summer fashion trends from a range of top local designers and on 18th and 19th March 2017. For further information and to book tickets, visit themerchanthotel.com or contact The Merchant Hotel events team on 028 9026 2717.
