The Legendary Dr Feelgood is the first act announced for what is set to be the biggest ever Belfast City Blues Festival as it celebrates its tenth anniversary.
They will appear at the Black Box on June 29 at the Black Box in the city’s Cathedral Quarter.
Dr Feelgood is the first act among many to be released ahead of the official launch of this year’s festival.
And organisers are promising a packed schedule full of surprises this year.
All the usual favourites such as the Blues On The Boat will return alongside a whole host of shows in venues all across the city.
Festival Director, Seamus O’Neill, said: “When it started I don’t think any of us would have realised that we’d still be going a decade later, and bigger than ever.
“Belfast City Blues Festival is now one of the premier blues festivals on these islands, a city that embraces wholeheartedly the music and draws visitors from near and far for a weekend of superb music.
“We’re also delighted to have American Holidays back on board this year as well as our new sponsors Brand USA.”
Karen Sheals Hoy, manager of American Holidays said: “American Holidays are renewing their premier sponsorship of the festival and we are delighted to also welcome on-board our new partner Brand USA who are co sponsors of the festival.
“Also on board we welcome United Airlines as our preferred partner.”
Formed in 1971 Essex band Dr Feelgood are best known for their early singles such as She Does It Right, Roxette, Back In The Night and Milk And Alcohol.
Their distinctive R&B sound was largely credited to Wilko Johnson’s choppy guitar style.
Tickets for Dr Feelgood are on sale now priced: £17.50 (+ booking fee) from Visit Belfast Welcome Centre box office or go to www.belfastcityblues.com.
