THOUSANDS have already flocked to the UK’s supermarkets to pick up great deals over the Black Friday weekend.
But this will be followed by Cyber Monday, where shoppers can stay in their homes as they search the web for pre-Christmas bargains.
Cyber Monday is a marketing invention that was first observed in 2005 by online retailer shop.org. Seen as an online version of Black Friday, Cyber Monday was created to allow customers to shop online from the comfort of their offices and homes.
And UK shoppers are expected to spend more than £600 million on the web this Cyber Monday, with exclusive offers online to entice them.
Here are some the messages and deals being plugged by the top shopping websites:
Amazon – The online retailer has got ahead of the game by launching some of its Cyber Monday deals today and will be offering big savings throughout the week.
It said: “Some Cyber Monday 2014 deals are in limited supply and all will go quickly – but don’t worry if you miss one, because we’ll keep adding new ones, as often as every 10 minutes, all week long.”
Upcoming offers include price drops for listed children’s clothing, as well as on the Vax V-026RD Rapide Deluxe Upright Carpet and Upholstery Washer.
Last year’s Black Friday was a record day for Amazon, when it sold more than 5.5 million goods.
“The public’s appetite for Black Friday has been bigger than ever, kicking off the Christmas shopping period in earnest and establishing Black Friday as a fixture on the UK Christmas shopping calendar,” an Amazon spokesperson said.
