Conleth Kane was asked to sing at the launch of PRIDE IN LONDON in 2017 and wrote ‘PROUD’ especially for PRIDE month across the globe.
Conleth has become one of the most vocal LGBT rights campaigners in Northern Ireland, and says that ‘PROUD’ was written for anyone who has experienced discrimination or who has been bullied for simply being themselves. Conleth went on to perform the song at Belfast Pride and recorded the single and filmed the music video in Northern Ireland.
Conleth has said that the song is particularly poignant given last weeks judgement in Northern Ireland relating to the marriage equality cases which were brought forward. ‘I felt the need to write and sing about how a party like the DUP’ make me feel on my home turf.
