CARRICK-A-REDE TIMED TICKET SYSTEM A SUCCESS

CARRICK-A-REDE

Following the introduction of a new timed ticket system at Carrick-a-Rede earlier this year, leading conservation charity the National Trust has revealed that guests to the site are overwhelmingly enjoying an improved visitor experience.

The new system was developed in response to significant growth in visitor numbers over recent years and in addition to ensuring ongoing conservation of this iconic attraction, it sought to minimise congestion, reduce waiting times and augment the overall visitor experience.

Ciara McClements, site manager at Carrick-a-Rede said, “Since the introduction of the new ticket system we have welcomed over 178,000 visitors to the site.  The new system operates hourly timed slots to cross the bridge, but does not impact the length of time guests can spend on the island.  Visitors can purchase tickets from 9.30am with the last ticket sale at 6.15pmduring peak season. We have also developed a children’s activity sheet to keep the little ones entertained during their wait.

“We have found that timed tickets have substantially reduced waiting times for our visitors, who are now under less pressure when actually crossing the bridge.  Our team can now communicate more effectively with visitors as we have a clear understanding of what slots are available, which in turn enables visitors to plan their trip to the site and the wider North Coast.

“Obviously combining our conservation strategy, with health and safety whilst offering an enhanced visitor experience is paramount and we would encourage visitors to make the most of their visit by exploring the natural beauty of this unique place when it opens in the morning or late in the afternoon.”

Timed tickets which will be sold at the site are only valid on the day of purchase and cannot be pre-booked.  More information can be found at www.nationaltrust.org.uk/carrick-a-rede.
