Three times National Champions of American Football, the Belfast Trojans, sponsored by Budweiser, are once again through to the finals of Ireland’s ‘Super Bowl’, hoping to make it four victories in a row!

The Belfast Trojans beat the University of Limerick Vikings 10-0 in the semi-finals recently on their home ground at Belfast Harlequins Club, a win which qualified them for the final of the Irish American Football Association’s Shamrock Bowl XXIX which takes place in Dalymount Park, Dublin, on Sunday 9th August.

In this year’s final, they’ll once again be defending their title against arch sporting rivals, Trinity College Dublin who will have home turf advantage.

Looking forward to what promises to be a hard fought, high octane game, Belfast Trojans Chairman, Barry Keil, says:

“We were delighted to see the semi-finals back in Belfast recently, the biggest league event to take place in Belfast since 2009, and we’re ecstatic that we’ve made the Final … again!

“For anyone who has not yet caught the American Football bug, it’s a thrilling sport to watch live and we reckon this is the perfect opportunity either to catch your first match! We’d welcome the support of dyed in the wool fans and newcomers alike, cheering us on at the Dublin Final!

“We’re very proud of the talented team of players we’ve nurtured over the years, and we’d also like to thank the iconic American brand, Budweiser, for its steadfast support as well as that of the guys at our relatively new home ground at Harlequins.  Support from Budweiser and Harlequins has combined to help our fans really connect with the sociability of the game throughout the season, and whatever the weather, which in turn spurs us on to keep improving.”

Hoping the Belfast Trojans will bring home another national title, team sponsor Budweiser’s Victoria Brown, brand manager at Tennent’s NI, said:

“The Belfast Trojans’ winning streak and their passion for the game have definitely played a role in the growth in popularity of American Football in Northern Ireland.  Every year they put our sponsorship to good use by dreaming up ever more creative and whacky activities to open up this great American sport to wider audiences.  In my eyes, they are already winners!

“Budweiser, with its American roots, is proud to back the Belfast Trojans.  Just like Budweiser, the Belfast Trojans, really are at the top of their game, and we wish them all the best for the forthcoming Final.”

The Shamrock Bowl XXIX kicks off at 3pm on Sunday 9th August at Dalymount Park, Dublin.  Tickets for the event are €8 and everyone is welcome. Visit www.belfasttrojans.com for further details.
