ARENACROSS AT ODYSSEY – SOLD OUT

Wednesday night we were watching ice hockey – Thursday morning the dirt’s started going in… @BelfastOdyssey @MonsterEnergyUK #AXUK

Arenacross and Freestyle Motocross will explode into the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, on Saturday nighy January 19th as promoter Events 22 brings the 2013 Arenacross UK series to Northern Ireland for an all-action one-night-stand.

Arenacross is the crazy indoor off-spring of motocross racing first conceived in America in the 1970s. The sport takes the most spectacular elements of outdoor racing, boils them down into a concentrated cocktail and then shoehorns them into arenas onto purpose-built dirt tracks. Racing is short, sharp and shockingly spectacular with huge triple jumps, killer mogul sections and fast, banked corners all designed to provide a high-octane sensory feast.

With Freestyle Motocross the competition takes place 40 feet above the track with riders hitting purpose-built ramps and then attempting to out-do each other as they whip and back-flip 100kg motorcycles in a jaw-dropping display of aerial gymnastics. Once considered MX mavericks, freestylers are now highly-paid sporting stars who compete in year-round world tour events such as the X Games and Red Bull X-Fighters.

“I can’t wait to bring Arenacross to the Odyssey Arena,” says Events 22 Managing Director Matt Bates. “Belfast is such a vibrant, exciting, colourful city and Arenacross is such a vibrant, exciting, colourful sport. It’s a perfect match.”

The Odyssey Arena will be the second stop on the 2013 Arenacross UK tour that also visits London, Birmingham and Liverpool over an intense four-week period. Starring the UK and Europe’s elite Freestyle Motocross riders and top professional and youth racers, it’s a night when dreams will be shattered, legends written and heroes made…
