Acclaimed artist Aly Harte has launched her first exhibition in South Belfast with a solo show in Canvas Galleries, Stranmillis. Having exhibited all over Northern Ireland, this is the first time she has taken an exhibition to the south of the city.
Twenty one original artworks are being displayed until May 19th, and aptly entitled ‘Figures, Flowers and LA’, the exhibition focuses on her love of flowers, her passion for California and her enjoyment of dance.
Speaking at the launch, Aly said: “This is one of the most exciting but nostalgic exhibitions I’ve ever done as it’s brought me back to my roots of Stranmillis where I lived while studying at art college. The show is a combination of all the things that I’m passionate about and I trust that this comes across to those who visit the exhibition to view the originals hanging on the walls here.
“I’m excited to share inspiration in my exhibition from a recent visit to Los Angeles where I’ve recreated my memories of strolling along Santa Monica Pier, the importance of movement for our health depicted in my dancers and wildflowers which I observed all around the city last summer.”
Awarded a first class honours degree and a distinction in her Masters in Fine Art, Aly is passionate about placing importance on everyday moments, objects and places in her oil paintings and pastel work.
As a creative entrepreneur, Aly helps women to know and to love themselves from their brain to their bones. She believes she is on a journey of self acceptance and invites women to join her on that journey via her blog and social media channels.
