Tablets cure nursery headaches for parents and carers
A local childcare provider has embraced new technology with a new diary system that’s proving to
be a real hit for childcare staff and parents alike.
Rascals Day Nurseries, which has eight branches all over Northern Ireland, has just finished piloting a new cloud based nursery management system called My Nursery Pal, in their Upper Newtownards Rd branch.
The tablet and cloud based nursery management system has gone live to all parents of children at the nursery. Managed by the nursery staff, it allows them to easily record all aspects of each child’s day, while they are in Rascals. Parents in turn can access the programme on their computer, tablet or smart phone, and with their own personal login for their child, can, at any time of the day, view information, photos, and messages relating to their child.
Eugene McLaughlin, who developed My Nursery Pal said, “Nurseries rightly go to great lengths to ensure that diaries are kept daily for parents, so they can read at the end of the day what activities their child has been involved in. The idea for the programme was borne out of thinking about how we could harness new technology and allow parents instant access to the diaries, along with pictures, as well as helping speed up the task for nursery staff.”
Stacey McAleese, Manager of Rascals, Upper Newtownards Rd, said, “This new system has a double benefit. Firstly it massively reduces the amount of time nursery staff have to spend on paperwork, therefore meaning more quality time to spend with the children. Secondly parents can practically have real time information at their fingertips to check in and see how their children are doing. It’s so simple to use from an administration and end user point of view, and we’ve had a really positive response from parents so far.”
Rascals will be rolling out the system to its other branches in the next few months, and an App for download is currently in development.
