There was an unexpected twist for one of the acts in the final of Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday night.

Richard and Adam Johnson from Holywell in Wales were suddenly joined on stage by a woman who started throwing eggs at the judges. In front of millions of viewers, the pair carried on singing and the woman was eventually dragged off.

The smiling woman, dressed in black, casually walked through, smiled then started throwing eggs from a carton at the judges.

After the performance judge Alesha Dixon described how annoyed she was by the woman’s actions, while Simon Cowell said he had only tweeted the day before about how much he hated eggs.

Simon Cowell went on to apologise to viewers saying:

“I have no idea what that was about. So whoever is watching, I really do apologise. And I’m sorry for you guys because I thought she was throwing sandwiches at them”.

As Richard and Adam Johnson finished their act, Britain’s Got Talent hosts Ant and Dec were quick to point out that the egg throwing was not part of the act, and they would find out what went on.

Britain’s Got Talent issued a statement following the incident, adding that they would not be taking action against the woman:

During tonight’s show an incident took place during the finale of Richard and Adams performance.

Natalie Holt (age 30) was part of the backing group for their performance and as a result of her misguided actions the police were called.

However, we have decided to take no further action at this stage.

The woman in question, 30-year-old Natalie Holt is a member of Richard and Adam’s backing group. Holt later apologised for her actions:

I want to apologise to Richard and Adam for overshadowing their performance.

I’ve never done anything like this before and in hindsight I have realised it was a silly thing to do.

The incident threatened almost threatened to steal the show, which was won by Hungarian shadow dance troupe ‘Attraction’. The group won the public vote after a British-themed display, including Land Of Hope And Glory and the voice of Winston Churchill.

BGT egg protest – what do we think? Is she a Hooligan? music Industry freedom fighter? Violent thug maybe? Or attention seeker? #eggsfactor
