RSM has joined forces with Age NI to launch the first Christmas season of the Winnie Appeal, with both organisations urging everyone to remember those that are older, alone or housebound over Christmas.

Neighbours, friends and even strangers are encouraged to nominate those people who they would like to receive a card this Christmas. The personalised cards will then be delivered to every person nominated. To get involved, everyone is being urged to complete the simple online registration at https://www.rsm.global/. The public will also be encouraged to send cards to individuals – this will be publicised on RSM’s and Age NI’s social media channels.
Clare Galloway, Business Development and Compliance Manager, RSM, said:
“Christmas is a time when we should all be thankful of our families and friends and those around us that bring us happiness, love and support. Unfortunately, there are many people in our communities, including those who are older, who simply don’t have these important networks and can often spend a lot of time by themselves – it’s why this partnership with Age NI and our appeal is so important.
“Our Winnie Appeal allows the good-hearted and well-intentioned members of the public the chance to help give others a real lift this Christmas. It’s the thought that counts.”
The appeal is named after Winne Blagden, from Sheffield, who was sent thousands of cards from across the world after a local radio station launched an online appeal for everyone to help mark her 100th birthday.
Siobhan Casey, Director of Marketing, Age NI, said;
“The Winnie Appeal proved a hugely popular campaign that really brought the spirit of goodwill into the homes of many and importantly helped remind others that even a relatively small gesture such as sending a card can really brighten up someone’s day.”
Based in Belfast and part of a global network, RSM is one of Northern Ireland’s largest and leading audit, tax and advisory firms, employing more than 90 people.
Age NI is the leading charity for older people in Northern Ireland, delivering care services, providing advice and advocacy while fundraising and influencing key decision-makers to help improve later life for all.
