Northern Ireland Hospice’s Vice President, Olivia Nash hit the jackpot when she collected £90,000 from Ulster Bank’s Henri Hippo this week. The money was raised by members of staff and customers of the bank through the ‘One Week in June’ campaign, an annual charity initiative run by Ulster Bank to support a range of organisations in the not for profit sector.
Members of staff from branches right across Northern Ireland helped raise money through a broad range of activities such as bake-offs, hill walking and relay runs.
Working with the branches throughout the ‘One Week in June’, Corporate Fundraising Manager for NI Hospice, Ellen Hillen said:
“Participation from branches has been overwhelming and we have been blown away by their energy and enthusiasm. It was humbling to see the level of interest in Hospice and the lengths that staff went to, to ensure the campaign was successful”
Stephen Cruise, Head of Branches, Private and Specialist Financial Advice NI at Ulster Bank said:
“We’re at the heart of the local communities right across Northern Ireland and members of staff at Ulster Bank have welcomed the opportunity to raise money for such a vital cause. The customers of the bank have been so generous. I want to thank them and the staff of the bank who realise that NI Hospice provides specialist care for people in real need – we’re pleased to be able to support them. Enabling our people to give back to the community is an important part of our business and our values. All the members of our team have shown real commitment this June.”

Judith Hill, Chief Executive of NI Hospice said:
“The support from Ulster Bank is a great boost for Hospice, and demonstrates the value that local people and businesses put on the services that NI Hospice provides. The £90k will be used across both Adult and Children’s Hospice Services and will be particularly valuable in supporting our Adult Hospice Rebuild, by funding space within the new Hospice. It will also go towards the provision of specialist nursing care for children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. We are very grateful to Ulster Bank for their support and to their customers for their generosity.”
