Oktoberfest, ballet, theatre, Ulster v Munster and Irish League football — here are some ideas for making the most of your weekend in Belfast.

An October weekend in Belfast can be as busy or as relaxed as you like. Browse handmade gifts, find your next read aboard a visiting ship, or spend an afternoon exploring the city’s art and history. With plenty of indoor options, you can keep a few plans up your sleeve whatever the weather brings.

Catch a Musical Pop-Up at Grand Central Station

Belfast Grand Central Station will get an unexpected dose of Regency romance and 1980s music on Saturday 10 October at 1pm.

Mr Darcy, Elizabeth Bennet and the cast of Pride and Prejudice and 80’s Hits! will perform songs and dance routines from the new musical in full Regency costume, giving station visitors a sneak peek of the show.

The special pop-up performance is in aid of Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, with volunteers organising a collection at the event. If you’re passing through the station or spending the afternoon in Belfast, stop by for a little musical entertainment and support the cause.

Cheer on Ulster Against Munster

Saturday evening brings an interprovincial derby to Affidea Stadium, where Ulster host Munster in the BKT United Rugby Championship.

Kick-off is 5.30pm on Saturday 10 October, making this one for rugby supporters planning their weekend around a live match. Check ticket availability before heading to the ground.

Elsewhere, Cliftonville travel to Coleraine, Dungannon Swifts host Carrick Rangers, and Limavady United welcome Ballymena United. All three matches also kick off at 3pm.

Whether you’re following your club or fancy an afternoon on the terraces, check the home club’s ticket information before travelling.

Make a Morning of St George’s Market

Start with a coffee, follow the food smells and take your time around the stalls. St George’s Market brings together food traders, makers and live music under one roof, making it an easy choice for a weekend wander.

Saturday’s food and craft market is ideal for picking up something tasty alongside handmade pieces. Sunday’s mix includes crafts and antiques, with plenty to browse between bites.

Explore the Ulster Museum and Botanic Gardens
