Prime Cut Productions have decided to address mental health crisis in Northern Ireland through two plays which focuses on two males of different ages, who are facing mental health issues and depression. The aim of these two plays is to raise awareness and address the mental health issues in public platform by introducing two personal stories.
Both explosive theatre performances are held at Upstairs at The Mac in an small-scale room which creates intimacy and closeness between the actor and an audience.
The ‘Every Day I Wake Up Hopeful’ by John Patrick Higgins introduces Malachy played by Charlie Bonner, a middle-aged man who is ready to make a significant decision which can change his life. The very normal and relatable protagonist confesses his sympathetic life story to an audience. Malachys’ poignant and desperately funny story has touched the hearts of viewers by making them feel everything he has lived through.
The ‘East Belfast Boy’ by Fintan Brady will make you laugh, cry and will leave you mesmerized, as Davy played by Ryan McParland is going to take you on an emotional roller coaster. This energetic, humorous and wretched storyline reveals the truth about a young man battling the things he sees and feels. A performance filled with tireless movements driven by techno music and street sharp poetry.
These two stirring, one-actor performances will leave you shocked by their powerful emotions creating a relatable connection to both protagonists. Thus if you are ready to shed some tears ‘Every Day I Wake Up Hopeful’ and ‘East Belfast Boy’ will be running until 3 March 2018 as Prime Cut Double Bill.
