GOLFING fanatics will have the opportunity to witness the “impossible shot” attempted by European Tour professional golfer Gareth Maybin as part of a Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) social media campaign.
A trickshot video has been created by NITB which shows Ballyclare golfer Maybin hitting a golf ball from a pontoon in the sea off the Causeway Coast onto a green in Dunluce Castle, County Antrim. One of the hardest shots of his life, viewers can watch Gareth’s journey along the causeway coast to take position beneath Dunluce Castle to prepare for the shot.
NITB is encouraging people to watch the video at http://youtu.be/q4rDMXWQ1A8 and take part in an online game where users can play and try the impossible shot to be in with a chance to win a four ball with Gareth Maybin. There will also be a daily prize draw to win golf merchandise.
NITB’s Social and Digital Marketing Manager, Kathryn Pyper is encouraging people to watch the trickshot video and take a swing at a new online game.
“Gareth’s history of trickshots inspired us to challenge him to try the ‘impossible shot’. With the dramatic backdrop of Dunluce Castle the video showcases Gareth’s talent and Northern Ireland’s beautiful landscape,” said Kathryn.
“Northern Ireland has always been a great place to play golf and enthusiasts of all levels have come from all over the world to play our courses,” she continued.
“Gareth demonstrated his golfing prowess on the stunning Causeway Coast and with our new game you can virtually follow in his footsteps and then have the chance to experience a real life game with this top European Tour professional,” she added.
NITB is encouraging everyone to explore golf courses across the country with the recent launch of a golf guide ‘Northern Ireland Made for Golf’ which has been distributed to tourist information centres, golf clubs and hotels across the country and is aimed at everyone from the dedicated golfer to the enthusiastic novice.
It provides a list and map of over 90 very diverse courses in every county from the world-renowned such as Royal Portrush or Royal County Down to hidden gems such as Galgorm Castle in Ballymena or Ardglass Golf Club in County Down.
NITB’s website discovernorthernireland.com contains information and details on a wide range of attractions and events with lots of special short-break offers at hotels, guest houses and self-catering accommodation around Northern Ireland with prices starting at £49.
