Local dogs tell the t’woof about their lives in new tongue-in-cheek blog

It’s often said ‘it’s a dog’s life’ but what exactly does that mean? A fun, new blog spot dedicated solely to the canine world of Northern Ireland aims to find out.

The Dogs of the Salty Dog offers a platform for local dogs to have their day – and say – and the pooches of a few familiar local faces are among the first to tell all, including life in the household of TV and radio presenter Frank Mitchell, straight from the muzzles of Jiggs and Jack.

The blog has been launched by Bangor Hotel and Restaurant, The Salty Dog, and comes on the back of it being named 2017’s Best Pet Friendly Hotel of the Year in the Georgina Campbell Awards.

Ken Sharp, proprietor of The Salty Dog, said: “The Salty Dog takes its name from the seafaring men of old who regaled all who would listen with tales of their trials at sea. Storytelling is at the heart of what we do – be that sharing in the conversations of our loyal customers or telling a supplier’s story through food.

“We wanted to explore ways of further linking our own brand heritage and connecting with our customers. We know that for many, our open door policy to dogs is something that differentiates us and keeps them coming back.

“We pride ourselves on being quirky and so this tongue-in-cheek blog was launched but we’re amazed by the amount of interest we have had from those desperate to get their dog featured. Move over Cats of Instagram!”

Canine fans who want their beloved furry friends to bask in the spotlight should get in touch – mixes, cross-breeds and mongrels are all very welcome.
