The Stena Line Belfast Giants took to the ice infront of over 6,000 fans at the Odyssey Arena on Saturday evening, with Northern Irish net minder Andrew Dickson being called into action in the opening minutes of the game.
Giants Head Coach Steve Thornton turned to Dickson early in the first period as starting net minder Stephen Murphy left after suffering an injury on the play. With limited ice time to date this season Dickson turned away 28 of the 32 shots he faced as the Giants romped to a 7-4 victory, delighting the home fans.
Kevin Wastgarth made his Giants debut and Colin Shields tied George Awada’s all time franchise goal scoring record.
