The Stena Line Belfast Giants announced at the annual Awards Night their first signing for the 2015/16 season, fan favourite – Darryl Lloyd.
The 31 year old forward was announced as the Giants organisation’s Most Valuable Player for the second time inside three seasons as well as the Forward of the Year – as selected by the fans of the team. The awards follow Lloyd’s highest points production for the Giants with 42 points in 59 games during the 2014/15 Elite League regular season.
Lloyd’s return will be his fifth consecutive season in Belfast and has already helped the organisation to two Elite League titles, in 2012 and 2014. Speaking at the Awards Night – Lloyd paid tribute to his line mates this season and spoke of his hunger for more success with the Giants – starting with the 2015 Playoff Finals,
“Belfast is my second home now and I’m excited to have agreed to return for my fifth season in this great city. From top to bottom – this organisation is fantastic and I love playing in front of the fans. I expect to win more trophies here and look forward to more success in the future with Belfast.”
