WELCOME THE WEALTH OF NATIONS TO BOTANIC GARDENS

Talent from around the world is already being lined up for the 2015 Belfast Mela – and fans who go on line to discover more about Ireland’s largest celebration of world culture will not only be in line for early booking discount and queue-hopping admission, they could also win a glamorous overnight stay at Belfast’s 5* Merchant Hotel.

The annual Belfast Mela (the name is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘to meet’) will attract more than 20,000 people to Belfast’s Botanic Gardens on Sunday 30 August for a day of music, dance, carnival, fashion, food, street theatre and artistry from all corners of the world.

Organised by ArtsEkta, Northern Ireland’s largest ethnic arts organisation, Belfast Mela provides a platform for the Province’s wealth of nations to share and enjoy one another’s culture.  Community groups from across Northern Ireland join with some of the country’s most innovative and impressive musicians and performance artists to create a multi-cultural day of magic.

The details of that magic are still being kept under wraps, but visitors to Botanic Gardens recently had a sneak preview of some of the colourful costumes that will be brightening Belfast for the iconic festival as artists gathered to launch the Belfast Mela website for 2015.
