Twenty days, twenty stores… £200,000 Cash for Kids target

Tesco Northern Ireland kicks off largest ever fundraiser to celebrate its 20th anniversary

A 20-day fundraising drive with Cash for Kids has launched as part of the Tesco Northern Ireland 20thanniversary celebrations.

With an ambitious £200,000 fundraising target, all Tesco Northern Ireland stores including Expresses have been tasked with raising as much as they can for the children’s charity, and funds raised will support local disadvantaged children.

Collection tins will be on all Tesco store checkouts for 20 days from the 9th October culminating in a final “reveal” of the total raised when CoolFM will host an outside broadcast at Tesco Knocknagoney on Sunday October 30th.

The Cash for Kids crew will drop-in on 20 Tesco stores during the collection period with music, games and prizes to be won – and to encourage the store team and customers to dig deep with their fundraising and donations. There’ll be tonnes of in-store entertainment and Tesco store colleagues are all up for the challenge.

Caoimhe Mannion, marketing manager, Tesco Northern Ireland, said: “The 20th anniversary is a really important milestone for Tesco Northern Ireland and, as one of the original acquisition team which arrived here 20 years ago, it is close to my heart. We plan to mark it in many ways but not least do something that gives back to the local communities we’ve now served for 20 years.

“Cash for Kids has long been one of the most impressive children’s charities here, for its ongoing dedication to reaching out and supporting the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people in our society. We’ve set ourselves a huge target and we’re confident our colleagues and store managers will pull out all the stops. Thanks in advance to our customers who donate to this worthy cause.”

Stephanie Laverty, Cash for Kids Charity Manager, said: “It’s been fantastic to partner with Tesco Northern Ireland to celebrate its 20th anniversary. We fundraise all year round to help disadvantaged children across Northern Ireland, and to have support from a big brand like Tesco is an amazing opportunity for Cash for Kids.  We’re delighted that all stores are on a drive to raise £200,000 in 20 days, and any amount raised will make a huge difference to the local kids we support.

Happy anniversary to Tesco Northern Ireland and here’s to 20 days of fundraising madness!”
