Seafood ‘afishionados’ from the Greater Belfast area will be able to get their hands on the freshest catch of the day as local supplier, Keenan Seafood has launched its first in-store counter at Tesco Northern Ireland.
The Keenan Seafood fresh fish counter launched on 9th October at the retailer’s Newtownbreda Extra store, offering customers household favourites such as cod, haddock and salmon as well as more exotic species such as seabass, seabream, stonebass fillets and swordfish loin. Local delicacies include Portavogie battered scampi and Strangford Lough mussels and oysters
Stephen Magill Commercial Manager, Tesco Northern Ireland, said: “The arrival of this anticipated concession signals a renaissance among local shoppers for a daily fresh catch as well as a growing interest in incorporating fish into family meals more often due to its well-publicised health benefits.”
Gerry Keenan, Managing Director, Keenan Seafood, commented on plans for the counter: “We’ve witnessed a change in fish eating habits over the years and we’re excited to get face-to-face with shoppers and help educate and guide them on their purchases. We’ll be on hand to share cooking tips and recipe suggestions as well as hopefully introducing some new species of fish to customers wanting to be more adventurous.”
