Team members at Tayto, Northern Ireland’s favourite crisp and snack manufacturer, hatched an egg-streme new product concept and colleagues have been sitting on the product launch for several months to capitalise on Easter sales.
Hailed the most eggs-citing news for the industry in many years, the Tayto Dream Egg, a cracking little bundle of tastiness with a unique shelling point. This egg-stra special treat is a Tayto Cheese & Onion flavoured fondant nestled inside a crispy chocolate shell and was launched onto shelves today, Sunday 1 April, for the cheep price of only 45p.
The news, which may come as a shell shock to consumers who are used to the company’s trademark crisps and snacks, is an eggs-cellent opportunity for Tayto to diversify and break into a new market.
Penny McClucken from Tayto, comments: “This is the ONLY egg on the market that encapsulates the iconic flavour of everyone’s favourite Cheese & Onion crisps in a fondant format. When Tayto fans crack open the crisp chocolate shell, it will unearth the deliciously gooey Cheese & Onion fondant, which is perfect to enjoy as part of the snack sensation that is the Tayto Dream Egg itself or, alternatively, it is also just the right consistency for crisp dipping.
“We believe this is a first for the market and our taste panels have referred to it as the ‘new Camembert’. We’d love to hear how egg-stravagant our customers go with their crisp and dipping combinations. Our stand out favourite is dipping Tayto Roast Chicken into the Cheese & Onion fondant and it has started many a debate among our team as to which came first – the chicken or the egg.
“Feedback has also been that it the Tayto Dream Egg is unlike any other Easter egg and the perfect mix of sweet and savoury. We are delighted that the new patented concept, which cannot be poached by any of our competitors, is eggs-clusive to Tayto in Northern Ireland.”
