2 Shop Local at the farmer’s markets
Fan of farmer’s markets? There are not one, but three fantastic markets taking place during Treat Week, each brimming with seasonal produce, entertainment and special cooking demonstrations from local chefs. Check out the Inns Market in Newtownbreda, Lisburn’s Penny Square Variety Market, and the special ‘Treat Week Twilight Market’, in conjunction with Hilden Brewery and The Cardan Bar.
3 Pick up some new culinary skills
Keen to bring a taste of ‘Treat Week’ home? Learn new skills to put to work in your own kitchen with the help of Forestside Cookery School. Throughout Treat Week Chef Jeffers will help you master the art of two foodie favourites even the most talented chefs struggle with – bread and chocolate. If you’re more of a ‘watch and learn’ person, there’s an interactive ‘Demo & Dine’ evening too.
4 Dine with Future Stars at SERC’s ‘Pop-Up’ at The Linen Room
All the greatest chefs have to start somewhere. If you like to be in early on a rising star, South East Regional College’s pop-up restaurant at The Linen Room in Lisburn on Tuesday 27 February is the place to be. Run exclusively by the region’s top student chefs, diners at this one-off showcase supper will enjoy a four-course fine dining menu featuring locally-sourced produce. Eyes peeled for that future Michelin-starred chef at just £14.95 it is the perfect excuse for a Tuesday night Treat!
5 Steak Menu Launch at the new StillHouse
The StillHouse, a newly-opened restaurant in Moira from the owners of Hughes Craft Distillery, will launch their eagerly-awaited steak menu during Treat Week. Supplied by Carnbrooke Meats, the menu features a mouth-watering range of melt-in-the-mouth 28-day matured, Irish grass-fed beef, seasoned and charcoal grilled to perfection. If that sounds like a bit of you, head across and pair it with a crisp RubyBlue vodka cocktail, another speciality of The StillHouse.
