With a talented cast including a full live band, Sunshine on Leith was a vibrant, energetic and exciting piece of musical theatre.
Originally created and produced by Dundee Rep Theatre, Scotland’s leading production theatre, SUNSHINE ON LEITH follows the highs and lows of Ally and his friend Davy as they return home to Leith, Scotland, from the army. Families, friendships and life are not all plain sailing in this funny and moving story about love and life.
Producing this musical was a real thrill for the Rainbow Factory as it is the FIRST TIME EVER Sunshine on Leith was performed by a theatre group (Outside the Dundee Rep Theatre) in Northern Ireland!
Talented young people from across Northern Ireland brought the critically-acclaimed musical production ‘Sunshine on Leith’ to Belfast recently as part of The Big Music Project, funded by The Big Lottery Fund. The show was performed by YouthAction NI’s Rainbow Factory School of Performing Arts and the technical production of the show was carried out by local young people as part of The Big Music Project which is aimed at helping 14-24 year olds develop the necessary skills to achieve a career in the music industry. The show featured the euphoric music of the Proclaimers and was an exciting and energetic piece of musical theatre for all guests who attended the six-night production.
YouthAction NI is delivering The Big Music Project in Northern Ireland alongside other local partners from the youth and music sectors, for more info and to get involved go to http://www.thebigmusicproject.co.uk/
