As the countdown begins for one of the most anticipated Mixed Martial Arts events in Europe, Brave 13: Europe Evolution next weekend, the main card bantamweight fighters are squaring up for what is set to be an electric meeting in Belfast.
The main event of Brave Combat Federation’s Brave 13: Europe Evolution, which takes place at the SSE Arena, Belfast on Saturday 9th June, will feature a clash of two of the best bantamweight prospects in the world, when Frans Mlambo from SBG Ireland faces current champion, Stephen Loman from Team Lakay for the Bantamweight championship.
The match-up features extremely contrasting fight teams trained by two of the greatest minds in Mixed Martial Arts. Head coach, Mark Sangiao is undeniably one of the top coaches in the Asia and has elevated Team Lakay into one of Asia’s top fight teams. Meanwhile SBG Ireland and John Kavanagh hold an enviable position as the best teams in the world. Both coaches were successful in highlighting their respective nations in the MMA World. While prospects trained by Kavanagh had found success in BAMMA, Bellator and UFC, Sangiao had made his mark in One Championship with the athletes he had trained.
The fight marks the second time that the two fabled gyms from Europe and Asia will compete against each other. In the first clash, Loman created history when he became the first fighter from Team Lakay to defeat an opponent from SBG Ireland.
The 23-year-old superstar from Team Lakay will be fighting closer to his opponent’s territory but is unfazed by the challenge. He is also the youngest fighter from Philippines to defend his championship in Europe.
In his previous encounter against Frans Mlambo, Loman made a comeback after overcoming impressive striking game from his opponent, to dominate the ground game and to secure victory by unanimous decision.
Team Lakay emerged as a dominant presence at the Asian MMA, creating multiple champions. However in the past, all three appearances by the team at Brave Combat Federation ended up without yielding success. Currently Loman is the only fighter from Team Lakay who is undefeated at Brave Combat Federation. He is also the only fighter from Team Lakay to score a win over an opponent from SBG Ireland.
Though SBG has produced talent that has been successful in promotions around the world, only Will Fleury and Frans Mlambo have managed to win at Brave Combat Federation. Brave 13: Europe Evolution marks the second time that Team Lakay and SBG Ireland is clashing against each other. With more media attention awaiting the clash between two masterminds supporting their respective athletes, SBG will have high stakes entering Brave 13: Europe Evolution.
In Brave Combat Federation, both legends are struggling to replicate the same level of success they had found with their fight teams facing shocking upsets over the previous editions in the promotions. Frans Mlambo and Stephen Loman are by far the most successful fighters at Brave Combat Federation from their respective fight teams and the upcoming bout is not only the clash of two of the best bantamweight prospects in the world, but also between the top fight teams in Asia and Europe and between two of the geniuses who have made their mark as coaches.
A total of 28 fighters will represent 15 nations in the fight card. The fights will be broadcasted live on Abu Dhabi Sports, Combate, StarSat and VodaComm in the respective territories apart from streaming across the official website of Brave Combat Federation. The fight card also features two IMMAF gold medalists, Frans Mlambo and Ben Bennette. The fight card is also special for Straight Blast Gym Ireland for featuring multiple athletes alongside being involved in the championship title fight in the main event.
