The Stena Line Belfast Giants have been crowned the 2018/19 Elite League champions! With an impressive record of 45 wins in 60 games, the Giants finished on 92 points along with the Cardiff Devils and clinched the title thanks to more regulation wins.
The Elite League season came to a close on Sunday with the Giants not actually playing – however the Coventry Blaze’s 3-1 win over the Cardiff Devils confirmed the Giants as champions. Belfast forced the scenario after winning their final three games in five days – defeating the Coventry Blaze, Fife Flyers and Dundee Stars on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday respectively.
The 2018/19 title is the fifth in Giants history and the eleventh major title for the organisation. The 2018/19 title will go down in history with the Belfast side performing a miraculous comeback – trailing by eleven points in January.
The Giants will add the Elite League to the Challenge Cup and Erhardt Conference ahead of the Playoffs – which start next weekend.
The all new Elite League trophy will be presented to the Giants following their final home game of the season – this Saturday, 6th April, the Playoff Quarter Final 1st Leg against the Coventry Blaze.
