Good news for players wanting to use the Wimbledon gym – they won’t have to contend with Rory McIlroy on the rowing machine any more.
The two-time golf major winner ruffled a few feathers this week when he fitting in a workout while here to support girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki.
Maria Kirilenko, beaten by Laura Robson, was reportedly a little grumpy that the Northern Irishman was using the gym after her own boyfriend, ice hockey star Alexander Oveckin, was told the facilities were just for players and coaches.
But McIlroy, who has left town for the Irish Open which starts tomorrow, will not need to rush back to watch his other half battling for honours in week two after she crashed out to Petra Cetkovska – almost literally after having lengthy treatment in the first set when a nasty tumble left her needing heavy strapping on her ankle.
