Roisin McErlean, (Rita’s, Belfast) won the Bacardi Legacy Belfast Heat with her creation, Matadero Street Resurection,and will proceed to represent Northern Ireland in the UK final.

Bacardi Legacy hosted its Belfast heat on Monday 26th September in Rita’s Belfast. 12 mixologists qualified for the Belfast heat where they showcased their creations and bar skills in front of industry experts. 3 judges flew from London to judge the competition, Metinee, UK Brand Ambassador (and former winner of Bacardi Legacy), Simon from Barlife and Dickie, the Global Brand Ambassador for Bacardi. Thispanel renowned for their distinguished palates and years of bartending experience put Northern Ireland’s best talents to test. Roisin came out on top with her cocktail, Matadero Street Resurrection.


Roisin spoke of her inspiration behind the cocktail ‘I wanted to create something entirely classic and acknowledge the humble beginnings of Bacardi’.

Paddy Duff(The Sweet Afton) was one of the runners up with Granada, de nada! alongside Paul Rocks (Aether & Echo) with Santiago’s Morn.


Bacardi Legacy is a serious competition for talented mixologists that has quickly established itself as one of the most important cocktail competitions in the world. The Bacardi Legacy Cocktail Competition gives each participant the opportunity to showcase his or her creations and be in with the chance of having their invention crowned the next Bacardi Legacy cocktail.

Roisin will compete in UK final in London in November with the top Mixologists from across the UK. If successful, she will proceed to Global Bacardi legacy Final in Berlin. Best of Luck to Roisin in the next stage of the competition.
