The Chubby Cherub is offering an alternative Italian Christmas menu this year. Whether it’s a two course lunch or three course dinner this city centre restaurant can cater for parties from 2-40 persons.

The Restaurant, voted during the summer by our followers as the “Most Romantic Restaurant” in Belfast, already looks Christmasy with the decor like a jewellery box of gold and baby angels. It’s bright, quirky and fun.

The candle lit tables and chill out festive music help create a cosy atmosphere.. as does the bottles of Birra Moretti and a glass of rose wine…. I knew we were in for a great night.

To begin, both the crostini starter dishes sounded delicious, so we decided to order one each to try.

Starter : grilled goats cheese crostini

Starter : garlic and prawn crostini

The jury is still out on which starter was our favourite. The goats cheese was fantastic, and the prawns were delightful. I recommend you order both and share. They are also very filling.

For main course I had filetto di amiable, which was roasted fillet of pork, herb gnocchi , wild mushroom and truffle cream. The gnocchi was exquisite and the sliced pork fillet was tenderly mouthwatering good. I’ve never had this combination before.

My guest ordered their main “Tagliatelle alla creama di Pollo al Vino Bianco” which translates to corn-fed chicken, tagliatelle, spinach, pancetta, peas, mushroom and white wine cream.

After the two courses, we were both full but I spied my weakness on the dessert menu,

Tiramisu is my favourite dessert ever. Every restaurant has different styles which ranges from a cake to a creamy pudding, The Chubby’s version is probably the best ever. I just wish there was more! Seriously could eat a large bowl full it was so nice. The Chubby’s Tiramisu, came in a glass covered in shards of chocolate and contained cherries and was absolutely delicious. Accompanied with coffee I really did feel I was in heaven with the angels.

If you have not booked your Christmas lunch or night out, or you fancy a break from the hustle and bustle of the Christmas market. I highly recommend the Chubby Cherub.

A two course festive lunch : £22.50 , 3 course dinner £29.50
