NI Hospice announced as new charity partner for leading housing association
From bake sales to fun runs, Radius Housing is planning a calendar of events to help raise vital funds for the NI Hospice. The housing association has announced has announced NI Hospice as their Corporate Charity Partner for 2017-19 and has already set about organising a number of fundraising events for tenants and staff of its 12,000 properties across Northern Ireland. Staff have already started to fill the collections boxes with donations having undertaken the hospice walk in May and held a Big Lunch in June.
Radius Housing was formed with the merger of Helm Housing and FOLD in April this year, and both of these organisations have a long history of fundraising for good causes. Between them they raised more than £83,000 in the last two years for organisations including Alzheimer’s Society, Headway, St John Ambulance, NI Children’s Hospice and the Children’s Heartbeat Trust.
Announcing the NI Hospice as their Corporate Charity Partner, Radius Chief Executive John McLean said: “The work of NI Hospice is extremely important and is valued by the families of those they work with. At Radius we do much more than simply provide homes for people. We build communities and support many people in our specialist housing, and we recognised that we could do more to support NI Hospice in their work in a small way by helping to raise funds.
“There has been a fantastic response from staff and tenants, and they have already shown their drive and commitment to raising record levels of funding in planning events for the next few months. We are all looking forward to the coffee mornings, bake sales, fun runs and carol services, and are delighted to be able to help such a worthy cause.”
Jonathan Lamberton, Corporate Fundraising Manager, Northern Ireland Hospice, said: “I am delighted that newly formed Radius Housing has chosen the Ni Hospice as their first ever charity partner. The staff at Radius have been so enthusiastic about the partnership that it has made us genuinely excited about what we can achieve, not just through the 1,000 staff but also the 30,000 tenants, telecare and telehealth clients.”
“The money raised through our partnership with Radius Housing will help support 300 families through our Children’s Hospice and 3,000 families through our Adults Hospice.”
The next fundraising event Radius Housing will be supporting is the Sparkle Dash which takes place on August, 6 in Giants Park, Belfast. Radius Housing will be the sponsor of the blue sparkle.
