Say I do – with a donkey!
Imagine saying your vows and then stopping for a selfie – with a donkey. This latest trend is just one of several that will be on display at this Sunday’s Quirky Weddings Boutique Wedding Fair, taking place at The Waterfront Hall.
Robert from Kinedale Donkeys says:
“Donkeys always get a smile no matter where they go! I have 25 of them and their main job is therapy work. They visit nursing homes, schools and also work with adults and children with learning difficulties.
“They are becoming very popular at weddings now too as they make your photos unique and add a touch of whimsy to your day. They make everyone light up as they deliver beverages and favours to guests. I got married myself in August and my ring bearer was Denis, a 27 year old donkey who I have owned since I was 6. He brought the rings right into the church – much to the amazement of the guests!”
Saima Akram co-founder of Belfast’s Quirky Weddings says:
“We’ve co-ordinated the Boutique Wedding Fair in The Waterfront Hall for 12 years and we’ve been privy to a lot of unusual trends. Right now it’s all about dramatic florals, backdrops and neon signs – however some of the more longstanding trends are still very popular such as the vintage Routemaster Bus.
“The donkeys will be making their first appearance with us at our fair on Sunday. For those seeking a four-legged alternative we will also have alpacas on show as well as the many wedding day staples including bridal boutiques, florists, cake suppliers and venues.
“We love to showcase unusual vendors for those seeking something a little bit different for their special day while also placing an emphasis on quality and creativity!”
Quirky Weddings Boutique Wedding Fair takes place on Sunday September 24th in the Waterfront Hall from 11am – 4pm. Tickets are available online at waterfront.co.uk.
